Frequently Asked Questions
Is my home suitable for solar panels?
Most homes with a reasonable amount of roof facing south, east or west can use solar panels. Shading from trees or nearby buildings, the condition of the roof and how much electricity you use during the day all make a difference. We'll look at your property and give you honest advice.
Do I need a battery with solar panels?
No, but a battery lets you store the electricity your panels make during the day and use it in the evening, instead of sending it back to the grid. A battery can also be charged on a cheaper overnight tariff. Whether it's worth it depends on how and when you use electricity.
Can I add a battery to an existing solar system?
Usually, yes. Depending on your existing inverter, we can often add a battery alongside it. We'll check your current set-up and tell you what's needed.
Can you install an EV charger at my home?
In most cases, yes. We check your electricity supply, earthing and consumer unit to make sure they can safely take the extra load, then fit the charger in the most practical spot, usually on a wall close to where you park.
Will my electricity supply need upgrading?
Sometimes. Adding an EV charger, battery or solar system increases the demand on your supply. We check this before we start and, if your network operator needs to be told about the installation or the supply needs upgrading, we'll explain what's involved.
